How to select iron,aluminum and stainless steel casting process in China?
The most common casting process has iron sand casting,iron shell Casting,aluminum gravity casting,stainless steel water glass casting and Silica sol precision casting from China.
First,Let us know the sand casting process. Due to the cheap price and simple production process,sand casting
had taken about 50%-60% of the total casting production,and about 65% of which is green sand casting.
Sand casting mainly uses two raw material green sand casting and green dry sand,because of the two material has the cheaper price , higher recycling rates and has short production cycle,most batch parts will use the sand casting process,for example car engine cylinder block, cylinder head, crankshaft and other castings.
However,when the green casting can not meet the technical requirements of drawings,we can consider using the dry sand or other sand,green sand casting parts weight range from several kilograms to hundreds of kilograms,however,dry sand casting even can reach to several tons.
Second,let us know the iron shell casting process
Compared with sand casting process,shell casting process has the following advantages:
1. Short production cycle and high production efficiency.
2. Casting parts surface has the good smoothness and higher dimensional accuracy.
Only due to shell casting process will use the material resin sand,however,the resin sand price will be higher than green sand,and pattern also need precision machining,so that the shell casting process Parts and pattern price will be higher. Mainly used for producing parts Complex thin-walled precision cast iron parts (such as car engine cylinder block, cylinder heads etc.) and demanding cast steel parts (such as container angles and train brakes).
Next,let us know the aluminum gravity casting process
Most aluminum parts will be produced by gravity casting,gravity casting not only can guarantee good smooth but also guarantee high accuracy. Many customer prefer to choose the material Aluminum 356-T6 and Aluminum 380 -T6 to make these custom made aluminum parts,parts weight range from 1kg to 100 kg,due to one set metals pattern for Aluminum gravity casting,even can be poured tens of thousands of times,so also be named permanent casting.
Finial,let us know the stainless steel casting process
There are two main casting processes for stainless steel,One is water glass casting process,another is Silica sol precision casting process. Precision-investment casting also be named Lost wax casting,many foreign customers are not sure how to distinguish the two processes,first,need to know both lost wax casting process and water glass casting process belongs the precision casting,However,lost wax casting process even can guarantee high dimensional accuracy (CT4-6)and almost perfect surface smooth(Ra.1.6~3.2μm),water glass casting process surface smooth and parts dimension accuracy are not so good than lost wax casting,of course,the water glass casting process price will be lower than lost wax casting process.
Until now,two main materials are used for the precision casting process, 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel.Due to need to make the new wax patterns for each parts,need to take p a lot of time,so that the precision casting process production cycle is longer than other casting process,about need 60-70 days.
